Two weeks ago, I had the honor of creating engagement photos for some lovely, self-proclaimed geeks. Brock proposed to Alexis in May 2021 at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and the two wanted to keep the theme going for their engagement session.
I'm a bit sci-fi-obsessed, myself, so I jumped at the idea - and when the day of the shoot arrived, this couple knocked it out of the park.
The only issue was that we found the iconic fantasy blades the two brought to the session were a bit dull when met with natural light. Of course, I couldn't bring myself to deliver images of light-sabers with no LIGHT, so after toning the images in Adobe Lightroom, I brought out the big blasters: Adobe Photoshop.
If you're a photographer and have run into this (or a similar!) issue, or are simply a curious cat who wants to know how I did it, check out the video below. I go through the step-by-step process and give a little tip near the end regarding an alternative process that could make executing the technique fly by even faster.
